That’s A Nice Chair
Total strangers were taking chairs for a spin in the office space they were going to be in after the office move. Unfortunately for them, people are attached to their specific nice chairs, and those chairs will not be inherited with the room. Also, no points for subtlety.

Months In Advance
Nothing like moving out a super visible disruptive deadline to highlight that you’re behind schedule. But I don’t mind avoiding my commute a few extra weeks. Go ahead and delay it even further!

Powerless Elevator
On the plus side, this happened to me on a day I was bringing in treats for my work anniversary, so my thinking was a little bit: “how long am I going to be trapped in here?” and, at the same time, a bit of: “do I have a fork in my bag?”

Be There For Others
This may be one of the more compelling reasons I’ve heard so far for return-to-office: that in-office culture is especially beneficial for folks starting out when they’re picking up good habits, skills, and domain knowledge.

For Morale
For a while there one of the elevators was blocked off with caution tape with the doors open, but usually there’s just an “out of order” sign, and I’ve heard the rumors of people getting caught in them.
