The washing machine knows it can get away with it, too. What am I going to do? It locked the door until the cycle completes. Cancelling just puts it into an even longer wait until it mysteriously decides it is ready to unlock the door.

She had been geared up in a rain hat and her coat earlier when it hadn’t been raining as heavily. So she definitely had her rain coat and chose not to wear it for the downpour.

On the plus side, this happened to me on a day I was bringing in treats for my work anniversary, so my thinking was a little bit: “how long am I going to be trapped in here?” and, at the same time, a bit of: “do I have a fork in my bag?”
