It hit me that I might be more introverted than average when other moms would commiserate about how much they missed being able to get out of the house and see other people after giving birth to their kids, but… wasn’t that part of the charm of maternity leave?

The OG Grinch
The older I get, the more I sympathize with Grinch and Grendel type characters – they just want to chill in peace, you know? I think one day I could really lean into the whole “you kids get off my lawn” energy.

On the plus side, my kids’ hearing has been fine so far. Which means they have been tuning me out with a mental rather than physical filter.
