Dead Ringers
Sadly, I did think that the basic plot of The Lord of the Rings was enough in the cultural zeitgeist that stopping someone over spoilers was a joke in itself. Then I remembered how many years it’s been since the movies came out.

Forget The Alarm
To clarify: that’s not “me” in the comic – that’s not how I (outwardly) wake up. I got to hear this happen one day when one of my kids woke up to the usual school day alarm and decided to try this approach for dealing with it.

Eye Don’t Get It
Honestly, I’m not even sure if reading in the dark is actually bad for you, but people sure brought it up a bunch growing up. I don’t recall reading in the dark often, but I also didn’t like carrots as a kid, so I’m sure that didn’t help with my terrible eyesight.

Parental Leave
Yeah, that’s right: I’m taking a day off for each time I went through labor. Every year. Forever.

Un-emergency
I understand that there are legal cover-your-ass reasons that they have to consider the worst case scenario when you call for medical advice, but it’s not always the worst case, you know?

Party Crashers
Maybe it seems weird to imagine attending a stranger’s birthday party and nobody realizing it, but especially for those younger kid parties: you might not have ever met any of the parents or the other kids. Fun fact: little kids can be hilariously bad at identifying people! Trust but verify.

How Old Were They?
Maybe I should have admonished my kid telling me to shut up, which wouldn’t usually be tolerated, but I (a) did feel bad about interrupting her and (b) was busy trying not to laugh in her face about the whole thing.

Overzealous
I can’t even be upset – it’s all true: I did go overboard (and it’s a bit oversaturated).

Life Finds A Way
I recently rewatched the original Jurassic Park, and that movie is still great. You know, I feel like this is even the sort of thing that Ian Malcolm’s character would actually do, especially if he knew he was in a movie.
